THE TRINITY (My heart)
Episode 15
SURPRISE SURPRISE….
Mr Anthony nearly ran mad to hear that his only son is in a
tragic accident. He quickly grabbed his car key followed by
his wife who was already in tears.
Meanwhile, Cynthia, who was in the kitchen when the
accident happened changed her mood instantly. She
suddenly stopped the vegetable she was cutting without
knowing why she stopped. She hissed and continued but
stopped again after few seconds. “God, what is wrong?” she
soliloquized and cleaned her hands. “I hope David is okay”
She decided to go into her room to call David. On her way to
leave the kitchen she stumbled and fell. Her instinct began
to tell her that something is wrong. Therefore, she hurried
into her room.
Mr Basi was in the livingroom watching anti-meridian news
when he heard his daughter’s noise but didn’t show
concern.
Cynthia tried David’s number and it went through. She was
only hearning noise when someone finally picked the call.
“Hello, na who be this?” a male voice asked from the other
side of the phone.
Cynthia noticed it wasn’t David, then she replied, “Please, i
want to speak with David”
“The owner of this phone don get accident oh!!”
“Jesus!!” Cynthia shouted and tears began to rush down
from her eyes like rain. Her father heard the voice and also
rushed inside her room to know the cause of the shout.
“Please, is he still alive?” Cynthia asked with a shaking voice.
“I no know oh! They don carram go hospital self”
“Abeg which hospital?”
“The one wey them they call Mercy Hospital at Binadi road”
“Okay, thank you” she began to dress up and take money
from her bag.
The father wondered who or what could make his daughter
cry. “Who was that?” he asked.
“Daddy, they said David had an accident” she answered
without looking at him.
“And what are you trying to do now?”
“Of course to go and see him, Daddy”
“You are going nowhere! Not in this house!”
Cynthia stood up and looked at him. The tears began to pour
out the most from her eyes. “Daddy” she called in tears, “For
all my life i have never disobeyed you. I’m sorry this will be
the first time i will do that”
Before the father could say anything, she rushed out of the
house.
“Cynthia! Cynthia!!” the father called but there was no
response.
Mr and Mrs Anthony were directed to the same hospital
when they got to the location of the accident.
Meanwhile, Cynthia was already there at the reception.
“Madam, who do you say you are?” a nurse asked.
“My name is Cynthia Basi a friend of the accident victim”
“We have many accident victims here”
“His name is David, David Anthony”
“Please follow me”
Cynthia couldn’t control her tears as she followed the noise
to the ward where David was lying in pains.
“I believe is this boy” the nurse pointed at David. She didn’t
need an answer anymore when Cynthia rushed the bed she
was pointing at in tears.
David was still conscious but didn’t know what was going
on. He couldn’t move his legs and blood stained all over his
cloth. He shook his head gently with his eyes closed.
“Oh my God, David i told you to be careful because i had the
feeling..” Cynthia cried but was interrupted by the nurse.
“Please, madam, crying will not solve the problem. We need
the contact of his parents. Do you have them?”
Cynthia shook her head negatively.
“But you must know where they live”
“Yes, i know”
Before the conversation continued, another noise came in
with Mr and Mrs Anthony.
“These are his parents” Cynthia pointed at them.
Mrs Anthony rushed her son in tears while the husband
stared at Cynthia.
“Good morning, Sir Anthony” Cynthia greeted.
“What are you doing here!” he looked at the nurses. “What’s
she doing here! I want her out of here right now!”
“I’m going nowhere!” Cynthia replied.
Mrs Anthony stood up and turned while the nurse stared at
all of them.
“Are you not Cynthia, what are you doing with my son!” Mrs
Anthony asked. They tried to raise a noise in the building but
the nurses prevented them.
“What is going on here?!” one of them shouted. “You people
should leave this place”
Suddenly, David groaned which made them pay attention to
him.
